This month has flown by and I can’t believe how much he has grown. I am packing up the newborn clothes already :(. At his 4 week appointment he was 11 lbs 12 oz.
This kid is a champ. He is such a good eater (thank goodness). I sympathize with new moms who are having trouble breast-feeding. I got lucky with this one. (Let’s hope I didn’t just jinx it).
I started experimenting with my pump. (Medela Swing). I was nervous about him taking the bottle and then getting back on the boob but it was seamless. Woo! Freedom! Four hours gives me enough time to enjoy a glass of wine and dinner with a friend.
We are still on Bennett’s schedule and it’s been going great… most nights. He usually falls asleep after his late evening feed (anywhere between 11:00 PM and 12:30 AM). He gets up once or twice a night. Lately we having been getting 4 hours of sleep at a time. Some nights I manage to get him fed and changed without waking Jeff up! Did someone say Super Mom?
bad long nights (thankfully there are less of these), when B just wants to stay up and party; Jeff is the one to get up and read to him or rock him back to sleep… Super Dad/Husband… sleeping mom. They fell asleep together on the floor of the nursery one night. I wish I had woken up to see this as I would have taken 1000 pictures. So cute.
I have found it really helpful to keep the lights low and avoid talking to him in the middle of the night. It’s hard to not engage but I don’t want to encourage middle of the night playtime. This approach has, so far, been going great and he is quick to fall back asleep.
Day to Day
Our days fly by. The weather has been amazing lately and we are loving our walks. Bennet usually falls asleep before we leave the driveway. He is starting to focus more on things around him (which can feel totally creepy when he fixates on something and I can’t follow his gaze to see what it is). When he looks up at me with those big eyes it just melts my heart. I have been putting him on his stomach more, I am so impressed by his ability to hold up his head. He doesn’t seem to mind “tummy time”. He spends a lot of time sleeping on Dad’s chest.
I love my boys.
